Eleanor Jane DeMarsh, 83, peacefully passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at her home in DeLand, Florida. Her husband, Chester Frank DeMarsh, was by her side. She was the last surviving child of Goldie Pearl McCandless and Isaiah Kermit Beachem of Ellwood City, PA. She was born on January 25, 1929, and was sister to Virgil Beachem, Elizabeth Bradford, Francis Beachem, Anna Mae Wylie, and Joseph Beachem. Eleanor married Chester on January 3, 1948. She devoted her life to their ten children and was their constant inspiration. They are Ronel Harber, Terri Horne, Joni Workman, Frank DeMarsh, Chester DeMarsh, Bonnie Lacey, Edie Lawrence, Anita Scott, Donna Johnston, and David DeMarsh. She is also survived by 27 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She and her family moved to DeLand in 1973 from Grove City, PA. She was an active member of St. Peter Catholic Church in DeLand, FL, and assisted her husband in his ministry as Deacon at St. Peter and at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Ormond Beach, Florida. She was active in the Cursillo and the Ultreya Movements in the Diocese, as well as in the Council of Catholic Women, RCIA, the Ministry of the Sick, and Baptismal Preparation classes at Prince of Peace. She was the manager of the St. Peter's Gifts from Heaven gift shop for many years. She and Chester jointly participated in ministry. She was his faithful companion. The family will receive friends on Sunday, Sept. 16 from 1-3pm, with a wake service at 2pm at the Allen-Summerhill Memorial Chapel in DeLand. A funeral Mass will be held Monday, Sept. 17 at 10am at St. Peter's Catholic Church in DeLand with interment following at DeLand Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler. Allen Summerhill Funeral Home is in charge of the Wake and Funeral Arrangements.
