Florence ("Flo") Dann. Our dear mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully in the evening on November 6, 2013 at the Halifax Hospital in Port Orange, FL surrounded by her loving family. A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 4:00 pm following the Senior Dance at the Ormond Beach Senior Center. Born on January 28, 1931 to the late Joseph and Anna Borm in Philadelphia, Pa, Florence was a long time resident of Levittown, Pa in Bucks County prior to moving to Palm Coast, FL in 1989, Ormond Beach, FL in 1997, and finally to Port Orange, FL in 2000. Florence was retired from a life long career in the catering industry. Most of her 30 years were at White Gate Caterers in Mercer County, NJ as a head waitress and Maitre'd. In the later years she loved the time she managed Somebody Small, the cafeteria at Bucks County Community College in Newtown, Pa where she was loved by the professors and students who knew her. Florence made a career change in 1986 when she became a licensed manicurist and worked at various salons in Bucks County, Pa. Florence married the love of her life Lawrence Sr. 64 years ago in Elkton, Md. Together they raised five beautiful children as an original resident of Levittown, Pa in Bucks County. Florence was truly a pioneer and woman ahead of her times. She was a warm, loving, generous daughter, sister, wife, mother, Mom-Mom, and friend. Florence spent her retirement years volunteering and always being of service to others. She instructed studio arts and crafts at the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW in Palm Coast, FL as well as prepared food and set up for the Women of the Moose Family Center in Ormond Beach, FL. Florence also ushered at her churches at Elizabeth Ann Seton in Palm Coast, FL and Our Lady of Hope in Port Orange, FL. Florence and Lawrence were ballroom dancers and coordinated and ran three weekly dances over the years including Sica Hall in Holly Hill, FL, City Island in Daytona Beach, FL, and the Senior Center in Ormond Beach, FL. Florence was the oldest of six sisters and is survived by two, Alice Renna of Norwood, Pa and Maryanne Ward (Robert) of Levittown, Pa. Florence is survived by her children, Lawrence L. Dann, Jr. (Nancy), Michele Boyle (Edward), Christina Kurtz (Joseph), Colleen Tomlinson (John), and Joseph Dann (Ramona). Florence is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. A mass of Christian burial in Levittown, Pa will follow at a later time.
