A Funeral service for Frank Barberie, 75, of Port Orange, FL, who passed away on Friday, February 12, 2010 at Florida Hospital, Ormond Beach, will be held on Friday, February 19, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange with burial to follow at Daytona Memorial Park, Daytona Beach, FL. Friends may call Thursday, February 18, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 21, 1934. Frank and his wife of 58 years, Geraldine, have lived in Volusia County for the majority of their lives. He attended Mainland High and owned Classic Tile & Marble until his retirement. Frank enjoyed fishing and NASCAR racing and built the first wooden template for the race cars and the timing boxes at the request of Bill France. Frank helped his father-in-law, John Bruner, and Bill France around the track and occasionally assisted with car inspections following the race. Frank was a member of the Living Legends of Auto Racing. He was such a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, and we will all miss him tremendously. Frank is survived by the love of his life, Geraldine; son, Frank (Trudy); and daughter, Mary (Steve) Willman of Port Orange; five grandchildren, Shad (Janet) Barberie of Las Vegas, Curtis Barberie, John Varnadoe, Ryan Varnadoe of Port Orange, and Sara Willman of Palm Bay; four great grandchildren, Lexi Varnadoe, Mikayla Barberie, Richie Barberie & Tyler Barberie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Halifax Humane Society, P.O. Box 9035, Daytona Beach, FL 32120-9035 or to your favorite charity. Arrangements are under the care and trust of Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, Port Orange.
