George W. Aylwin, Jr., 87, of New Smyrna Beach, a test board operator for Bell South, New Smyrna Beach for 30 years, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at his home. Mr. Aylwin, an Air Force veteran of World War II, was born in Salem, MA. He married Agnes Cassidy of Eastport, ME on July 4, 1948 and in 1962 they moved their family from South Hamilton, MA to New Smyrna Beach. George was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Smyrna Beach and the New Smyrna Beach Golf Course for over 40 years. He enjoyed surf fishing, playing golf with his friends and introducing his family to the game of golf paid dividends through the years. Survivors include three sons, Danny (Kathy) of Ormond Beach, Michael (Lisa) of New Smyrna Beach and Bobby (Karen) of Douglasville, GA; two daughters, Jane (Clint) Voltmer of Carlsbad, CA and Peggy (Stuart) Hughes of New Smyrna Beach; one sister, Eleanor Sampson of Peabody, MA; and eleven grandchildren, Katie, Jay, Todd, Kevin, Kelly and Heather Aylwin, Alyson and Troy Voltmer, Meghan and Robert Hughes and Jennifer (Jason) Grier. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Cass in 2009. Visitation will be from 6PM until 8PM today (Wednesday, December 5, 2012) at Dudley Funeral Home, 1108 N. Dixie Freeway, New Smyrna Beach. Mass of Christian Burial will be 4 PM Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Smyrna Beach. Private entombment will be in Edgewater-New Smyrna Cemetery Mausoleum.
