Harold Albert "Hal" DuKarm, 90, of Deltona, passed away peacefully Nov. 7, 2013 at Hospice Care in Orange City. Born April 23, 1923 in Buffalo, New York, to Peter and Sophia DuKarm, Hal retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a supervisor in Buffalo. He was a Master Sergeant in the Air Force and was stationed in England during World War II. Hal also was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, the Eighth Air Force Historical Society, American Legion, VFW and Moose Lodge. Preceding him in death are his parents, his brother, Donald DuKarm, and son Kenneth DuKarm. Survivors include his loving wife, Edith Kauffman-DuKarm; son Ronald DuKarm (Maria) of Orchard Park, NY; daughter Karen Stumm (Davis) of Cheektowaga, NY, step son William Kranso (Janet) of Lancaster, NY, step daughters Patricia Swinconos (Dale) of New Port Richey, FL and Candace Caputo of Gainesville, FL; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Interment will be at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. The family will hold a private celebration of his life at a later date.
