Southeast Volusia in Edgewater, Florida. A visitation will be held in his honor Friday, July 26, 2013 from 5-7pm at Lohman Funeral Home, 733 West Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach, FL 32174. His funeral service will be on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 2pm at First Presbyterian Church of Daytona Beach, 620 S Grandview Ave, Daytona Beach, FL 32118. Imre was born in Markotabodoge, Hungary. He served in the Hungarian Army, emigrated to Austria in 1956 during the Hungarian Revolution, then to the United States in 1957. He resided in New York, where he met his future wife, Anne Roblee. They married in 1959. Imre and Anne moved their family to Orlando in 1964, then moved to North Carolina, then to Daytona beach in 1995. Imre was an electrician and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. After retiring, Imre enjoyed working in the yard, fishing, bowling and playing chess. He always had time to help his sons whenever needed, and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Imre and Anne were active members of the Hungarian-American Club in Daytona Beach. Imre will be sadly missed by his wife of 53 years Anne; his sons Peter (Jackie) Matkovics of Goldsboro, NC, Joe Matkovics of Port Orange, and Jim (Danette) Matkovics of Orlando; and his grandchildren: Erynn, Collin, Jillian, Jacob, Jordan, Brooks, Michelle, and Nickie. He is also survived by his sister Ilona Nemeth of Hungary; his sisters and brothers-in-laws, Patty (Lester) West, Tom (Ruth) Roblee, Mary Freebern; and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond.
