- James D. Kelly, 79, of New Smyrna Beach, passed away suddenly on Friday, December 7, 2012. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he worked in the financial services industry on Wall Street for over 25 years, and moved to this area in 1988. Mr. Kelly served in the United States Army during the Korean War, was a former member of the Knights of Columbus St. Theresa Chapter in Valley Stream, New York, and was a current member of American Legion Post 17, New Smyrna Beach. He was awarded "Man of the Year" at Blessed Sacrament Church in New York, where he was involved in many activities, was devout parishioner of Our Lady Star of The Sea Catholic Church, New Smyrna Beach, and a sports enthusiast. Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Marilyn; 5 children, James Kelly and his partner Kevin, Patricia Zimmer and her husband Thomas, Thomas Kelly, Michael Kelly, and Maureen Ruffini and her husband Peter; cherished grandchildren, Jenna and Luke; brother, Frank; and many cherished neighbors at the Bahamian Club. Visitation will be from 1:00-5:00 p.m. today, Tuesday, December 11 at Settle-Wilder's New Smyrna Beach Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 12 at Our Lady Star of The Sea Catholic Church, 4000 S. Atlantic Avenue, New Smyrna Beach, Florida 32169. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans Fund, P.O.
