James "Jim" Wallace, Jr., age 76, of St. Augustine, passed away on May 2, 2018 at Flagler Hospital with his family by his side. He was born to the late James and Margaret Wallace in Newton, MA and grew up in Watertown, MA. Jim attended grammar school at St. Patrick's and was a 1959 graduate of St. Mary's High School in Waltham, MA. He went on to receive his Bachelor of Arts in economics from Northeastern University in Boston. After college he worked as a housing economist for the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development, where he retired after 30 years of dedicated employment. Jim was the president of the American Federation of Government Employees, Boston Region, in the 1990s. After retirement in 2000, Jim relocated to Florida with his wife where they lived between Flagler Beach and St. Augustine. Jim was a 5 handicap golfer, little league coach for many years, active PTA member, avid Red Sox fan, and a member of Norfolk Country Club in Westwood, MA and Rivera Country Club in Daytona Beach, FL. More than anything he was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother and friend, who will be missed greatly. He is survived by his wife, Antoinette "Toni" Wallace; children, Gregory Wallace (Kathryn), Tara Schepens (Augustin); grandchildren, Karoline Wallace, Luc Schepens, Alexander Schepens, Julien Schepens; sister, Claire Campton (Keith); sister in-law, Therese Callahan; and eight nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Nancy Holmes; Brother-in-law William Callahan; and brother in-law William Boswell. A celebration of life will be held in Westwood, Massachusetts at a later date.
