Jim McConnell passed away peacefully on June 17th, 2013 at the age of 82. Jim was born in Cadillac, Michigan in 1931 and was a resident of Ormond Beach since 2000. He joined the U.S. Army in 1949 where he served honorably for 20 years before retiring as a Sergeant First Class at Ft. Rucker, Alabama in 1969, with two combat tours in the Korean Conflict and two combat tours in the Vietnam War. He met and married the love of his life Dorothy McConnell in 1952. They were married 60+ years. After retiring from the Army, Jim worked for civil service as an electrician at Ft. Benning, GA for 20 more years before retiring again. He was a emeritus member of the Masons. Jim is also survived by his two sisters Bonnie Hudson (Allen) and JoanTanner; his three sons Dennis (Lorraine), Steven and David (Lorraine); ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. His son Jimmy preceded him in death this year. A viewing is scheduled at Haigh-Black Funeral Home at 167 Vining, Ormond Beach today (Thursday June 20, 2013) from 6-8 PM. Burial will be at Florida National Cemetary with military honors, Bushnell Florida 11:30 AM on Friday, June 21. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you donate to the .
