Janet K. Schroder, Ormond Beach Florida, 72, passed peacefully on March 6, 2013 at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Florida. Janet was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri and moved to Florida in 1977. She was always interested in anything medical, doing volunteer work at 3 different hospitals starting at age 15. She also worked as a dental assistant and worked at Florida Memorial Hospital as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She was a very loyal friend to many and spent the final weeks and hours with several who passed before her. In addition to her love for her family both here in Florida and back in St. Louis, she loved her involvement with the Ormond Beach Elks, Ormond Beach Emblem Club and the national arm of the Emblem Club The Supreme Emblem Club. At the time of her passing, she was a member of the Daytona Beach Emblem Club. She helped many offices in the local club including 2 terms as president. She held 4 appointive offices in the Supreme Emblem Club, including 3 terms as District Deputy for the State of Florida, as well as 5 elective offices including 2 separate years as Supreme Financial Secretary, the highest national office ever held by a woman from Florida. Janet was predeceased by her parents Lester E. and Edna C Kraus nee Danner. Her Father and Mother-in-law Albert E. and Eleanor P. Schroder nee Heath and brother-in-law Albert E. Schroder Jr.. She is survived by her husband of 53 years David W. Schroder of Ormond Beach; a son David W. Schroder Jr. Ormond By The Sea, Florida; a daughter Lisa M. Cahill (Michael) Orange City, Florida; and two grandchildren. She was given tremendous loving care by the doctors, nurses, respiratory specialists and support staff in the ICU unit at Florida Hospital. Their "TLC" will never be forgotten. A private celebration of her life will be held at a future date for her immediate family only.
