JOHN MAZE Obituary


John (Jay) Everett Maze, 85, of Daytona Beach Shores, died peacefully at home on the morning of October 10, 2010, surrounded by his loved ones. Jay was born on July 24, 1925, in Kansas City, MO. Jay was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in World War II and the Korean War. After being honorably discharged, Jay began a career as a Casualty Insurance Underwriter for Wausau Insurance Company. Jay moved here eight years ago from Tucker, Georgia, and became very active in the Daytona Beach area. Jay was an avid supporter of the local musical arts including the Daytona Beach Symphony Society, Seaside Music Theater, and the semi-annual London Symphony Orchestra concerts. He was also an active member of the Halifax River Yacht Club. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of twenty-five years, Anne. Their years together were full of love and adventure. Jay and Anne took great pleasure in traveling together and have visited all seven continents. He will be greatly missed and always remembered. He is survived by his wife, Anne N. Maze of Daytona Beach Shores; daughters, Carolyn Mather (Steve); Janet Damhorst (Jack); sons, John Michael Maze (Debby); Emery Mark Maze (Lisa); Bryant Maze; grandchildren: Carol Johnson, Christine Minter, Ashley Witters, Jennifer Maze, Andrea Lyons, Scarlett Kaye Maze, Kara Acosta, John Andrew and Matthew Maze; great-grand-children: Elizabeth Guercio, Elijah, Ethan, and Arles Johnson, Joshua, Noah, and David Minter, Keagan Maze, Alex, Christopher, and Sophie Anne Acosta. A celebration of life will take place on Sunday, November 14, 2010, 3 to 5 p.m. at the Halifax River Yacht Club. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.lohmanfuneralhomes .com. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange.
