Kelvin Renard Badie

Kelvin Renard Badie, 57, died on September 28, 2018, after a courageous and lengthy battle with cancer. He was born February 20, 1961, in Daytona Beach, Florida, to the late Charlie Mae Badie and Clarence Badie. He was a graduate of Mainland High School, Class of '79. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Florida in 1985. He worked for Follett Publishing as a store manager for over fifteen years, in Winston-Salem, NC and Jacksonville, FL. Upon his return to Daytona Beach he began a new career as a math instructor at Daytona State College, in the Adult Education program. He served as Assistant Chairperson of the Adult Education Department until illness lead to his early retirement in 2016. He was a faithful member of Allen Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, where he served on the Class Leader's Council. Kelvin enjoyed traveling, especially orchestrating family road trips, hosting holiday gatherings and grilling for family and friends. He was an avid "Dallas Cowboys" fan and loved "his Florida Gators". He is survived by brothers, Steven G. Badie and Felton E. Badie(Anita); sisters, Opal Badie and Sharilynne Badie; nephews, Steven G. Badie, Jr, Charles A. Badie and Mitchell J. Walker; niece, Carlie M. Morris, all of Daytona Beach; Uncles, Clifford Badie of Atlanta, GA and Robert Smiley of Holly Hill, FL; Aunts, Sheila Smiley Mitchell(Chanel) of New Smyrna, FL, Beverly Badie and Maxine Badie of St. Augustine, FL ; Godchildren, Alicha Pendleton Porter(Brian) of Riverview, FL and Jonathan Walls of Tallahassee, FL, and many other relatives and friends. There will be a viewing at Allen Chapel A.M.E. on Friday the 5th, from 5pm-7pm. The home going celebration will be 2pm today; Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Allen Chapel A.M.E. Service of committal will take place at Greenwood Cemetery. Herbert Thompson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements and professional services.
