Lawrence "Larry" Gerald Stohler, 70, of DeLand passed away March 22, 2013 at his residence. He was born in Sharon, Pennsylvania on March 25, 1942. Larry worked as the supervisor of security at Halifax Medical Center and part time for the Daytona Beach Police Department. He was a member of Stetson Baptist Church in DeLand. He loved watching NASCAR and his favorite driver Dale Earnhardt. Larry enjoyed ham radio especially talking on South Cars and Ambassadors for Christ. He is predeceased by his brother Virgil and his parents. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Dora; son Theodore "Ted" Stohler of Bunnell; daughters Tammy (Scott) Saucier of Ormond Beach and Theresa (Bill) McLarnan of Ormond Beach; brother, Albert (Linda) Stohler of Holly Hill; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A gathering of friends will be held Thursday, March 28, 2013 from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm with a memorial service at 5:00 pm at Stetson Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler (3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129) or Stetson Baptist Church (1025 W. Minnesota Ave., DeLand, FL 32720).
