Lin Tim Loo nee Chow
01/02/1933 - 05/12/2018
Lin Tim Loo nee Chow, born on January 2, 1933, the daughter of Yuk Ha Wong and Joe Young, passed away on May 12th, 2018 in Jacksonville, FL. The family will receive friends at Shannon Maloney Funeral Home at 4084 Halifax Dr., Port Orange FL 32127 on Friday, May 18, 2018 from noon to 2:00pm. Burial will follow at Daytona Memorial Park at 1423 Bellevue Ave., Daytona Beach FL 32114. Born in a rural village in Kaiping County, China, Lin helped out on the family farm as a young girl. This farming led to a later love of vegetable gardening. After WWII when Lin was 12, she and her mother learned of her father's death while away in the U.S. and shortly thereafter made their way to Hong Kong where Lin worked as a seamstress in a local factory. Lin met and married her first husband and gave birth to a daughter, Yim. Abandoned by her husband nine months later, Lin had no choice but to continue working as a single mother. With the aid of family friends, and after an exchange of mail correspondence and photographs, Lin was brought to the Bahamas in 1961 for a first time face-to-face meeting by her future husband, Fook. Fook later brought Lin to the U.S. after they were married in the Bahamas in 1962. In 1971, Lin gave birth to their daughter, Wai (who later became known as Lisa) and after 37 years of marriage, Fook passed away in 1999 while the couple were living in China. After Fook passed away, Lin's health began to decline. Lin moved to St. Louis, Missouri where she was lovingly cared for by her daughter Yim for the next 19 years of her life. Living through the cold winters of St. Louis, the weather began taking a toll on her arthritis and the two moved back to Florida in March of this year. Lin is survived by her daughter Yim Loo, daughter Lisa Mills, and Lisa's husband, Brant Hambrick. Services are entrusted to Shannon Maloney Funeral Home, Port Orange.
