Louis V. Cafiero, 86, a long time resident of Ormond Beach passed away on November 15, 2012 at 7:44pm. Louis was born in Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York on January 7, 1926. A Veteran of World War II, Louis proudly served his country in the Merchant Marine serving aboard the Liberty Ship Glenn Curtis and T2 Tanker Arickaree. He was at the landings of the Normandy Beaches, Omaha, Utah, Gold, and Sword, serving in supply shuttle, allied troops and ammo discharge. He was also present in the South Pacific, Australia, Persian Gulf, and Manus Isle. Mr. Cafiero also served in the United States Army during the Korean War from July 1950-53. He further enlisted in the M.S.T.S. Transport Service 55-59, U.S.C.G. Lic. 55093; American Export Line 59-79. He served as Second Mate aboard the S.S. Constitution 63-68. As a member of the Greatest Generation, he was proud of his military service and deeply loved his country. He was a friend to all he met and truly changed this world. His Love of family was his greatest gift and his Loyalty to all of us will be truly missed. He is survived by his sister, Candida Finger, by his nieces Joanna Prill and Judy Gicero, and nephew Robert Finger, Jr. of New York; by his niece, Jan Jones and nephew, Bill Jones, of Ormond Beach, as well as their children: William, Victoria, and George Jones. He was a friend, a brother, an uncle, a father, and a grandfather to us all. We will cherish his memory, his love, and his beautiful heart. He was a wonderful and caring man. His passing has left a large hole in all of our hearts. We love you…Uncle Lou. A Visitation in his honor will be held Monday, November 26, 2012 from 4-7pm at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond. A Celebration of Louis Cafiero's Life will be held Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 11am at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond Chapel. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond.
