Margaret Lee Sapp McClairen

Margaret began her journey of Life when she was born February 25, 1931 in Moultrie, Georgia to the late Lee Andrew and Estella (Bethune) Sapp. During Margaret's matriculation at Bethune Cookman (1949-1953), she met her future husband, Jack Forsyth (Cy) McClairen. She was inducted into Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. over 65 years ago. Margaret was voted Miss Bethune-Cookman College during the (1952-1953) academic year. In the Spring of 1953, Margaret received her B.S. degree in Elementary Education. On September 28, 1955, her first daughter was born, Jacquelyne Robin. Michelle Joycelyn was born September 21, 1956 and Dwayne Forsyth was born September 25, 1959. Margaret's teaching career in Volusia County was a a 4th grade teacher at Campbell Elementary and Westside Elementary until she retired with over 30 years of service in Orange and Volusia Counties. Margaret was a devoted Wife, Mother, and Nanny to grandchildren and great grandchildren. Margaret is survived by her husband Jack Cy McClairen, her children: Jacquelyne Robin Mc Clairen, Daytona Beach, FL, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. Visitation Friday at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church from 5-7 pm; services Saturday at St. James Episcopal Church, 38 S. Halifax Dr., Ormond Beach, FL, at 11:00 am. Arrangements entrusted to Herbert Thompson Funeral Home.
