Mary Louise (Estes) Moyer of Orange City, Florida died Friday, August 9, 2013. She was 51 years old. She was born to the late George L. and Marlene G. Estes on June 18, 1962 in Syracuse, NY. Mary Lou was the daughter "Daddy" always wanted, after brothers Steven R. Estes of DeLand, Wayne H. Estes of Orange City and Timothy L. Estes of Daytona Beach, Florida. Mary Lou was educated at Dempsey Brewster Kindergarten in DeLand, attending all eight years of elementary school at St. Peter's Catholic School, DeLand, graduating from DeLand High School in 1980. Mary Lou had two children, son Michael Scott, 16, with father Michael Moyer of Orlando, Florida and daughter Madison Elaine, 10, with father Neil LaCroix of Deltona, Florida. For many years Mary Lou was employed as a waitress at local DeLand establishments, most notably Won Lee's Chinese Restaurant and Emmy's Old Time Tavern. She recently returned to the work force as a retail associate with the Wal-Mart Corporation in Orange City, Florida and was employed there until her death. Outside waitressing and retail, Mary Lou was an avid reader, enjoyed camping, cookouts and swimming, helping her children with crafting projects for school and baking holiday cookies and treats at Christmas time. Mary Lou had a special flair in decorating her home for those family celebrations throughout the year, especially for her children's birthday gatherings. Besides her immediate family, Mary Lou leaves behind many friends and relatives, locally and out of state, who are left to cherish her quick smile, her love of people and good music (most fondly music of James Taylor and The Beatles), her generous heart and easy approachability in speaking with people in sharing a good laugh and a warm sincere welcoming hug. Mary Lou was pre-deceased by her father Gerald in February 2013 and infant sister in 1961. Memorial donations in Mary Lou's name are welcomed to St. Peter's Food Pantry, DeLand, Florida. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, August 16 at the Lankford Funeral Home. There will be a Funeral Mass at St. Peter's Catholic Church, on Saturday, August 17 at 10:00 am. You are welcome to share your memories with the family at www.lankfordfuneralhome.com.
