Peter G. Keating, 64, of Daytona Beach, on Wednesday, September 12, 2012, surrounded by his beloved family, was embraced by heaven's light. Peter touched thousands of lives through his law practice since 1973. The son of a steelworker, police officer, and homemaker, Peter made his own way through Hofstra University and Stetson Law School as an athlete. He also served his country commissioned as a 2nd Lt in the U.S. Army. Peter met his beautiful wife of 45 years, Gail, as a lifeguard on Jones Beach in 1967. They began his law practice and family in Daytona Beach in 1973. Peter was active in the Knights of Columbus, Jaycees, and as a lectern for Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity. He was instrumental in the development of Daytona Coconuts Rugby Club. Peter's compassion, steadfast work ethic and devotion to people in his life, live as a legacy for all that knew him. Peter is survived by his wife Gail Keating; by his children Peter G. Keating, Jr. (Angie), Lauren Keating, Erin Greatrex (Ryan); his grandchildren Peter G Keating III, Martha Amelia Keating, Annabelle Lee Keating, Mia and Jalen Greatrex; his brothers Arthur (Skip) Keating, Gerard Keating (Sue), Chris Keating, John Cronin (Irene), Father Kevin Cronin; his sisters Mary Ellen Bighi (Renzo), Ronnie Kopp (Ron); and many nieces and nephews. A Visitation for Peter will be held Monday, September 17, 2012 from 4-9pm at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond, with a prayer service starting at 7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at 11am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1014 North Halifax Avenue, Daytona Beach, FL 32118. Burial will immediately follow at Daytona Memorial Park, 1425 Bellevue Av., Daytona Beach, FL 32114. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Peter's name to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler County.
