A funeral Service celebrating the life of Mrs. Phyllis Ann Ammenheuser, 88, of Orange City, will be conducted Saturday, 12-9-17 at 1:30 pm, at the Altman-Long Funeral Home, DeBary with Rev. Larry Weiss officiating. A private committal service will take place following the service at the Longwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12pm until service time. Born in Elkview, WV, Mrs. Ammenheuser grew up on a farm helping to raise her eight siblings following the tragic death of her father William Larch at the age of seven. She retired after a 32 year career as a Civil Service employee in the Social Security Administration, the Department of Health, Education and Welfare Department and finally as a Budget Analyst in the Comptroller's Office. She enjoyed playing the Trumpet during her school years, loved to bowl and deep sea fishing with her younger daughter. She loved gardening, growing pineapples, roses, and azalea bushes. She also volunteered to care for others who were in need. She was preceded in death by her husband Roger Ammenheuser and daughter Leslie Sedar. Mrs. Ammenheuser is survived by her daughters Patricia Baxley, Middleburg, FL and Karen Weatherman, DeBary, FL. She has five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
