Racheal M. Schoenberger, age 75, of Edgewater, died Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/ Flagler, Edgewater. Born in Glenwood, Georgia, Racheal retired as an accountant in the oil industry from Anchorage, Alaska and moved to Edgewater in 1994. She was a member of the Moose Lodge 1835, Eagles Post 4242, American Legion 285, and AmVets Post 2, all in Edgewater, as well as VFW Post 4250 in New Smyrna Beach. Racheal loved camping out with her grandchildren on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska, and her love of cooking was evident in the many great dishes she prepared. She was loved by her family, children and grandchildren, and will be missed by her many friends. Survivors include four daughters, Sondra (Chuck) Kaplan, Ronda Johnstone, Judy (Jeffery) Balthazore, and Mary (Mark) Raska, all of Wasilla, Alaska; two sisters, Naomi Scarbero of Edgefield, South Carolina, and Lucille Nieb of Edgewater; seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a large extended "family" that called her their "Aunt Rae". Racheal was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis in 2008. Funeral service is 12:30 p.m. Friday, October 25 at Settle-Wilder chapel, New Smyrna Beach. Burial followed at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, Edgewater. Viewing will be 11:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
