Robert J. "Bob" Iler, Sr., of SE 65th St. Ocklawaha, FL, was called home to meet the Lord, June 22, 2012. Mr. Iler was born in Cadillac, Michigan in 1930 and graduated from Vermontville High in Vermontville, Michigan in 1948. He resided in Daytona Beach, FL from 1950 until 1992 after his service for the U.S. ArmyKorean Conflict. He was a proud member and past president of IBEW Local 756 in Daytona Beach. He was also a past president of the Daytona Beach Bowling Association and coached Little League. Bob attended Forest Assembly of God Church. Bob, his wife and family have had a large Easter and Christmas light display at their home in the forest. Mr. Iler is survived by his brother, Lee Iler, North Fork, VA, his son Bob Jr. and his wife, Kristi, his youngest son, Wayne, 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Violet, his daughter, Pauline; his grandson, Daniel, 3 brothers, Donald, Allen and Earl; a sister, Lois, and a very dear friend, Nell Jascha. He was a beloved father and grandfather figure to the Miller and Preis families, along with countless others. In lieu of other remembrances the family suggests donations be made to either the 1737 N. Clyde Morris Blvd. Ste. 140, Daytona Beach, FL 32117 or Hospice of Ocala, 3231 SW 34th St. Ocala, FL 34474. A Service of Remembrance for Robert Iler Sr. will be held Wednesday (June 27, 2012) at 6:00 pm at the IBEW Local 756, 5901 S. Williamson Blvd. Port Orange, FL with Chaplain Jim Smith officiating. The family will be welcoming friends from 5 pm until the time of the service.
