Robert (Rocky) Thomas Rockwell passed away peacefully on Monday, July 22, 2013 at the age of 80. He is survived by his wife Betty Rockwell and his children Daryl Rockwell and his wife Marlene (Port Orange, FL), Autumn Doulong and her husband David (Sterling, VA), Rob Rockwell (Ormond Beach, FL), Cherie Elebash and her husband Joe (Tallahassee, FL), Jon Turner and his wife Michelle (Geneva, FL); and his grandchildren Jeremy Williams, Jesse Williams, Chelsea Rockwell, Jenna Doulong, Kevin Rockwell, Dan Doulong, Christian Rockwell, Hannah Rockwell, Sebastian Rockwell, Peyton Elebash, Garrett Elebash and Jonathan Turner. Rocky was born November 1, 1932 in Syracuse, NY to the late Chester and Fredaline Rockwell. He joined General Electric at age 18 into the Apprenticeship program in Syracuse, NY and moved to Ormond Beach, FL in 1962. Rocky retired from GE Daytona in 1989. After retirement he worked part time for Scotty's, Lockheed and the Raydon Corporation. Rocky loved to bowl and work out in his yard. His legacy is one of great humor, laughter and kindness to others. He was blessed with a long wonderful life and will be missed but never forgotten by many. A memorial will be celebrated today (Wednesday) at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Haigh-Black Funeral Home, 167 Vining Court, Ormond Beach.
