Roberta Grace Abbott, 83, New Smyrna Beach, passed away Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008. A Memorial service will be held, please call the Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home, 428-2424, for the date and time. Born in Cottage Hospital in Cazenovia, N.Y, she moved to this area in 2005 after being a winter resident for many years. Growing up, she lived in Cazenovia, Jamesville, Fabius and Syracuse, N.Y. She also owned a farm in Pompey with her first husband, Harold Crawford. She was preceded in death by her second husband, Harland Abbott, Fabius, N.Y. She was a member of the Edgewater United Methodist Church, attended Syracuse University, and was a graduate of Cazenovia Central School. Roberts was very talented in piano playing, cooking, sewing and knitting. She loved her fond memories of her old town of Cazenovia, such as, the gypsies, horse racing and the town blacksmith. Mrs. Abbott is survivied by her sons, John Crawford, Richmond, Va., Kenneth Crawford, Chicopee, Mass.; daughter, Melinda Nordheim, New Smyrna Beach; brother, Donald Loope, Manlius, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; and companion, Donald May, New Smyrna Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hopice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129 in her memory.
