Funeral services for Mr. Roswell A. Reed, 87 who passed away on Saturday, November 17th, 2012 in Daytona Beach FL, will be 11:30 AM, Saturday, November 24, 2012 at RJ Gainous Funeral Home, Inc., Daytona Beach, FL. Dr. Tony Barhoo of Living Faith World Ministries of Daytona Beach, FL will deliver the eulogy. Interment will be Monday, November 26, 2012 at Jacksonville National Cemetery at 11:30 AM. Calling hours are from 5:00 to 8:30 PM, Friday (today, November 23) and from 10 AM until service time at the Funeral Home on Saturday. Mr. Reed, born Roswell Albert Reed (lovingly known as Roz), was born to Roswell Albert Reed, Sr. and Clarencetine Reed in Springfield, Missouri on April 10, 1925. He attended Wilberforce University in 1942 and was drafted in the United States Army for World War II. After his stint in the army he returned to school to earn his Bachelor of Science degree. After completing school he moved to San Francisco, California where he met his wife of 62 years Helen Holder. They were married in Berkeley, California, November 4th 1951. Shortly after, Roz took a job with National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland as a chemist and they started their family in the Washington D.C. area. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Helen Reed; his sons: Philip (Amy) and Scott (Camille); nine grandchildren, three great-grand children. He also leaves one brother, Clarence Reed (Rosie) of Oakland, California; one niece: Margo Reed (Oakland, CA) and a host of family and friends. Condolences may be shared with the family at
