RUSSELL A. MacLEOD

Russell A. MacLeod, 78, passed away at home on Thursday, June 10, 2010. The son of Stanley M. and Pauline V. Bartlett MacLeod, Russell was born in Clinton and raised in Belmont, MA. Russell graduated from Cornell University where he lettered in football and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He moved to New Smyrna Beach from Sudbury, after retiring from his own plumbing business. Russell was a humanitarian activist who cared passionately about the less fortunate and social justice. He gave generously of his time, money and vocal support to organizations such as Dr's without borders, CCF, Habitat for Humanity, Amnesty International, Meals on Wheels, and many other organizations. He found joy in life through barbershop singing, line dancing, and attending local musical, theater and art presentations. Most recently his greatest love was playing bridge with the New Smyrna Beach Bridge Club, which he did with Amazing Grace, and learned enough to write a book. Left to cherish their memories together are his son, Scott A. MacLeod of Sudbury, MA; his daughters: Heather P. MacLeod of Brownfield, ME; Karen R. MacLeod of Denmark, ME; and Melanie A. Dunn (Deric W.) of Reisterstown, MD; his grandchildren: Hawk Reynoso of Portland, ME; Kiowa Reynoso of Jacksonville, NC; Sequoyah Reynoso of Brownfield, ME; Julia and Jeremy Dunn of Reisterstown, MD; and Colleen Bullard of Denmark, ME; his great-granddaughter, Maryn Reynoso, Jacksonville, NC; and his brothers: William E. McLeod and Kenyon B. MacLeod of New Smyrna Beach. Russell is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Marjorie Santello and Stanley MacLeod. The family would to express their thankfulness to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler for their compassion and kindness.
