Thomas "Tom" David McCormick, Sr., 86, passed away on November 10, 2013 at Villa Crest Nursing and Retirement Home, Manchester, New Hampshire. Born in Granby, Connecticut on January 30, 1927, he was a son of the late Robert and Margaret (Mahoney) McCormick. Tom grew up in Connecticut and spent his adult life in Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Florida. He served in the United States Air Force from January 1949 to October 1952. Tom graduated with highest honors from the University of Connecticut in June 1959 and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He retired in 1987 after 21 years as an engineer with GE, having worked on the Apollo program. Tom loved having his family around, was an avid reader and gardner, and especially loved traveling and the holidays. Survivors include three sons, Thomas, Jr. of Ormond Beach, Timothy and his wife Allison of Nottingham, New Hampshire, and Terence "Terry" and his wife Mary of Chester, New Hampshire; daughter-in-law, Darlene McCormick of Port Orange; seven grandchildren, Michael and Daniel McCarthy, Laura, Spencer, Caitlin, Nathaniel and Kirsten McCormick; one sister-in-law, Marge McCormick of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. McCormick was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Barbara (Brow) McCormick in 2010; his youngest son, Todd Christopher in 1992; and his siblings, Edward, Richard, Eugene and Marion. Committal service will be 12:30 p.m. Friday, November 22 at Edgewater-New Smyrna Cemetery, Edgewater. Calling hours will be 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Friday, November 22 at Settle-Wilder's New Smyrna Beach chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the , Greater Southeast Affiliate, P.O.
