Virginia H. Roche, passed away Friday, April 19, 2013 of natural causes. She was predeceased by her husband Lt Col Paul Roche, U.S. Army. Virginia was born in Tampa, Florida December 21, 1910 and was one of eight children. As a toddler the family moved to Jacksonville where she grew up. She later moved to New Smyrna Beach where she was a resident for over 40 years. She was known to fight for a cause all the way to Tallahassee- with children and animals at the top of her priority list because they are so helpless. She was very active in the Democratic Party and was a Florida Convention delegate for President Bill Clinton. Virginia was a retired social worker and a graduate of the University of Florida. Early in the Korean War she worked three years in the Osaka Army Hospital, Osaka, Japan in charge of the out-patient clinic and then was recruited by the American Red Cross. She was sent to Germany for three more years. She is survived by several nephews and nieces. Life Celebration will be 1:00 PM Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Baldwin Brothers Heritage Place, 1 North Causeway, New Smyrna Beach, FL. Private interment will be at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens.
