Wesley Stevens passed away at Halifax Hospital, Daytona Beach on September 3, 2018 at the age of 74. Wesley's never ending question of 'why' eventually landed him in a Children's Home at the age of seven as he was just too much to handle. He always said, however, those years in the Home were the happiest of his childhood. Born in S. Norwood, UK, into a family of six children, the Salvation Army Church played a big part of their life. At an early age Wesley began playing the trombone, and eventually learned to play all the brass instruments. He served 22-1/2 years in the British Army with postings in Europe, the Near East, Far East and Middle East. Many of these years he was assigned to a Staff Band, and he certainly had his fair share of stories to tell regarding that part of his life. He then began a new career with the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead in the Local Land Charges Office. Ever the defiant one, Wesley traveled the road his way, and yet remained a loyal and trusted man. A wicked sense of humor was Wesley's calling card, as was his accent. Everyone he met remembered him. His wife Lynda is left to remember him for his love, wit, compassion, generosity and sensitivity. His dog Guinness was his loyal friend and forever by his side. In the UK Wesley leaves behind a sister Averil, daughter-in-law Lucy and her husband Nick, grandchildren Jasper and Lottie, and former step children Bruce and Samantha. He was predeceased by his son, Russell. Wesley was a member of the Edgewater Union Church. A memorial service will be held at the church on Sunday, September 30, at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Southeast Volusia Humane Society. I'll see you in heaven darling.
