William F. Wombough, 97, WWII veteran. William was born to his loving parents, Albert and Ruth Wombough, on May 19, 1920, in Elmira, NY. He passed away in hospice care on March 6, 2018. William served in the Army during World War II. He married Ruth Bryon, the love of his life, in 1941. After the Army, he worked as a final inspector in the typewriter industry. He was a member of the Audubon Society as he enjoyed bird watching; in fact, he was quite an expert as he could recognize many different bird species. He always appreciated the beauty of flowers. Most importantly, he was an avid Yankees baseball fan and loved to cheer for his Yankees team! William is predeceased in death by his parents and his wife. He is survived by his son William (Janice) Wombough, his grandchildren Ronald and Ruth (TJ), and his great-grandchildren Matthew, Autumn, and Jackson. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 12, 1 to 2 p.m., with the Funeral services scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. These services will be held at the Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange, FL 32129.
