Funeral Service for Willie Smith Sr. "Smuggy", 65, DeLand will be held 2pm Satur
day, January 19, 2013 at Macedonia Baptist Church, 514 W. Beresford Avenue, DeLand, Pastor Melvin L. Young Sr., Officiating. Visitation will be held Friday (today) from 4pm to 7pm at J. E. Cusack Mortuary and Saturday from 1pm to service time at the church. Burial will follow the services at Union Cemetery, DeLand. Born March 24, 1947 in Stateline, Mississippi to the late Virgil & Mattie Smith. He was educated in the Volusia County School District. Upon graduation from Southwestern High School, class of 1967, he entered the United States Army where he received a military Badge of Merit and the Purple Heart for his Bravery. In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by his son: Darakka Javon Smith; sister: Mary Lee Hardy and four (4) brothers: Virgil, Anderson, J. W. and Louis Smith. Left to cherish his memories: his daughters: Shabreena Brooks, Lake Helen; Bridgel Williams (Eugene), DeLand; Natasha Collins, Daytona Beach; Nareka Brooks, Lake Helen; Terrell Dimples Smith and son: Willie Ferrell Smith, DeLand; brothers: L. C. Smith (Paula), Chicago, IL, Clovice Smith (Anna Marie), MS, Homer Lee Smith (Rosemary), DeLand; Evans Lee Smith (Linda), Miami; sisters: Gertrude Wilnewic, Chicago, IL; Muriel Sierra, Chicago, IL, Dorothy Dixon and Shirley Williamson (Willie James), DeLand, FL; 25 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
