A Mass of Christian burial for Daniel H. Barnes, who passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 with his wife and daughter holding his hand, will be Monday, March 21, 2011, 1:00 pm at The Basilica of St. Paul Church, 317 Mullally Street, Daytona Beach. The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, March 20, 2011 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange. The interment will be at Volusia Memorial Park, 550 N. Nova Road, Ormond Beach, immediately following the service. Daniel was born in Atlanta, Georgia and moved to the area in 1980 from Akron, Ohio, where he grew up. He was employed at Covidien in DeLand where he was a Technician. He was a member of The Basilica of St. Paul Church and the ELKS club. He loved boating and fishing but his passion was his family. Daniel had an inquisitive mind and was able to analyze "what made things and people tick". Fortunately, God gave him the ability to repair all things mechanical and the gift to treat everyone he met with sensitivity and compassion. Daniel leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 27 years, Joyce; mother, Patricia Stein, Edgewater; son, Tristan Barnes, Iowa; daughter, Stephanie (Jody) Baker, Port Orange; two brothers, Robert Barnes, DeLand and Michael Stein, Edgewater; sister, Kathi Kovacs, Ohio; five grandchildren; two nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the , Volusia/Flagler Unit, 1737 North Clyde Morris Blvd., Suite 140, Daytona Beach, FL 32117.
