Maria Dolores Alonso, age 89 passed away on June 11, 2011 in Deland Florida. Maria was born in San Fernando Andalucía Spain on March 27, 1922. Maria was a nurse in the Spanish Civil War, and then moved to the Canary Islands in 1940 where she had her first born son Enrique. She moved to Venezuela in the 1952 where she married Elias Alonso Gomez (deceased) and had her four other children. Maria had a great passion and love for children, plants and animals. She is survived by her three sons, Enrique Salgado, Jose L. (Gabriela) Alonso, Manuel (Susan) Alonso; two daughters, Maria Alonso (Lawrence) DeBolt, Mary Alonso; four grandchildren, Alejo Salgado, Javier Salgado, Michael Alonso, Alexander Alonso and two sisters; Francisca and Consuelo (deceased). Friends will be received from 1:00 2:00pm on Tuesday June 14, in Deltona Memorial Funeral Home 1295 Saxon Blvd Orange City 386-775-4260 where a celebration of life service will take place at 2pm. Interment will follow in Deltona Memorial Gardens.
