Laura Priscilla Lester Rhoades, born July 27, 1917 to George and Fannie Lester, passed away March 29, 2012 under the loving care of her children and West Volusia Hospice. She was predeceased by husband Cleveland, son Zodias, daughters Elsie and Myrtle. She is survived by sons Cleveland (Judy), Thomas, Curtis (Robin);

daughters Mary (Keith) Shaw and Reba Peters; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one great-great- grandchild; sisters Levie Mae Fillyaw, Agnes Hatcher; and brothers Melvin, Leroy and W. H. Lester. She excelled as a dishgarden designer. Her passion was her family and working with plants and flowers. Her hobbies were beading, needlework, caneing, quilting, reading and travel. She was a kindhearted and gentle soul. Memories will be dearly cherished. Condolences may be shared with the family at Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home DeLand on Sunday, April 1, 2012 from 1-3 pm. Services will be held on Monday, April 2 at Emporia Baptist Church at 1:00 pm with Pastor McAlister and Pastor Howard Cox officiating. Interment will follow at Pierson United Methodist Cemetery.
