James Gregory "Greg" France, 63, DeBary died suddenly this past Friday at his home. A funeral mass celebrating the life of Greg will be conducted 4:00 p.m., Wednesday October 10th in the Sanctuary of St. Ann's Catholic Church, DeBary with Fr. Bernard Ngila officiating. A viewing will be held in the chapel of the church one hour prior to the mass. Following the funeral everyone is invited to attend a reception at the DeBary Golf and Country Club. Greg served two terms on the DeBary City Council serving as Vice-Mayor. His love of politics was well-known to all who knew him. He ran his first campaign for City Council when the city held its first election. He had also sought office to be Mayor and later ran for Volusia County Council. After receiving his degree from the University of Maryland he moved to DeBary in 1972. He went on to receive his Masters Degree from the University of Central Florida. At the time of his death he was serving as the Building Official for the City of Holly Hill. He had also served in the same capacity for Seminole County and various municipalities in Volusia. Although Greg took his career and his duties as an elected official seriously, he was probably best known to his friends for his great sense of humor, constant smile, jokes and the love he expressed towards his children. Outside of work you could find him enjoying all kinds of facets in life; whether it was working with children's charities, Habitat for Humanity, social events, deep sea fishing, trips to the speedway, traveling out of the country or simply cruising in his beloved corvette. He is survived by his daughter Lauren M. and his son Austen, both of DeBary and sister Sharyn Bolinger of Woodbine, MD. ARRANGEMENTS ENTRUSTED TO ALTMAN-LONG FUNERAL HOME, DeBARY (386) 668-8880
