A memorial celebration for Michael Dann, 70, of Daytona Beach, who passed away Dec. 26, 2012 in Cumming, GA, will be held Saturday at 1:00 pm at the Christ Community Church, 329 N. Williamson Blvd., Daytona Beach with Pastor Larry Kirk officiating. Friends wishing to call and pay their respects may do so this evening (Friday) from 5 to 7 pm at the Dale Woodward Funeral Home, 167 Ridgewood Ave., Holly Hill. A native of McRoberts, KY, Michael moved to this area in 1960 from his birth place. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and managed several of the local hotels, including the Reef, the Ramada Inn and the Mayan Inn before going into the restaurant business. Michael owned and operated many restaurants in the area, most of which bore the name Carmichael's. A loyal and grateful member of Alcoholics Anonymous for over 20 years, his home group was Love & Service. He was a Kentucky Wildcats fan but his true passion was being surrounded by family and friends. In lieu of other remembrances the family suggests donations be made to Alcoholic Anonymous Intergroup, 1635 S. Ridgewood Ave. South Daytona, FL 32119. Michael was predeceased by his father, Carl. Survivors include two daughters, Richane Swedenburg (Shaun), Cumming, GA and Melissa Papillo (Louis), Hoschton, GA; a son, Carl Dann (Robin), Newnan, GA; his mother, Geneva Dann, Altamonte Springs, FL; a sister, Michelle Adams (Don), Longwood, FL; a brother, Nick Dann (Karen), Ocala, FL; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and nephew with whom he had a special relationship, Dann Adams, Woodstock, GA.
