Harold Arthur Purdy, 84, of The Villages, FL, passed away on December 20, 2012 at his home after a long illness. Mr. Purdy was born in Syracuse, NY to Arthur J. and Almeda F. Purdy and moved to The Villages from Ormond Beach. He served 4 years in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS Collett. He then retired after 40 years as an Electrical Engineer from GE where he worked for the Apollo Space (man on the moon) Program. He is survived by his daughters, Carol A. Kiel of Daytona Beach, FL, Diane Watters Rice of North Carolina, and Jacqueline Lou Purdy of Daytona Beach, FL; seven grandchildren, John, Michelle, Jeremy, Melissa, Justin, Jason, and Joshua; and 11 great-grandchildren; and companion & caregiver, Katherine Schwartz. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann. Graveside services for Mr. Purdy will be held on at 1pm on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Volusia Memorial Park in Ormond Beach, FL.
