Michael W. "Mike" Sayers, 64, of Daytona Beach, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013. Michael was born February 25, 1949 in Daytona Beach to June and Joel Sayers. He attended Our Lady of Lourdes School, graduated from Father Lopez High School and received his bachelor's and master's degrees from FSU. Following his graduation, he was employed as a Rehabilitation Counselor for several years. He was currently the Vice President of the family business where he will be greatly missed by all. Michael was a member of Kappa Sigma, FSU Alumni Assoc., the Daytona Beach Kiwanis Club, Halifax River Yacht Club and the University Club of Daytona Beach. Michael was an athlete all of his life and truly loved golf and football. He was sensitive, caring and fair. His sense of humor was wonderful and he was a dedicated and loyal son, father, husband and friend. He truly was courageous and fought to live on earth with his family as long as possible. He is survived by his wife Jan; and daughter Michelle. His family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, April 7th, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 9th, also at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Daytona Memorial Park.
