Gaetane Leonhardt passed away peacefully on July 21, 2013 in Ormond Beach, Florida, surrounded by her adoring family. Gaetane was born in Brest, France in 1919. She came to the United States through Ellis Island in 1925 and lived for a while in New York City where she attended public schools through high school. She moved to Daytona Beach where she met a baseball player named Fred Leonhardt. They were married in Ocala, Florida in 1940. Gaetane was a cosmetologist in Daytona Beach for many years. She was active in the Peninsula Garden Club and the Bridge Club at the Halifax River Yacht Club. Gaetane enjoyed life every day. She always had a smile for you, and if you were lucky enough, a new joke to tell. She loved spending time with her family, almost as much as they loved spending time with her. Gaetane never lost her charm, not even in the end. She is survived by her children, Germaine Moffett, Daytona Beach, Fred (Vicki) Leonhardt, Orlando; five grand children, Laura ( Brian) Bloom, Ormond Beach, Lisa ( Shawn) Singeisen, Venice, FL, Kevin (Corinna) Moffett, California, Ashley (Kevin) Lee, Ormond Beach and Whitaker Leonhardt, Orlando; seven great grand children and one great great granddaughter. A celebration of the life of Gaetane Leonhardt is being planned for the family in mid August in Daytona Beach. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to VITAS Hospice, 2381 Mason Ave. (Suite 100) Daytona Beach, FL 32118.
