Jo Anne V. McCollum Smith Cook, A third generation native of Daytona Beach, she was born September 19,
1931. The daughter of Thaddeus and Clara McCollum, one of the first businessmen on Second Avenue, Daytona Beach. Later, adopted daughter of the late Jewell & Dalton Smith. She was a Baptized member and sang in the Choir of the First Baptist Church on Magnolia Avenue. In 1935 she danced with the Florence & Helen Montgomery Dance Co. on stage at the Empire Theatre on Orange Avenue. As a teen she regularly sang and played her guitar at the Band Shell and local Tourist Centers for the City of Daytona Beach Recreation Dept. under the late director Mr. Sam Galloway. At 16 she won Parade Queen and Rodeo Queen of Daytona Beach in 1947-1948. In mid 40's she entertained with the U.S.O. at the Welch Hospital and Veterans Rehab Center (Now Halifax Medical Center) Graduated St. Paul's High School 1949. She also played guitar and sang on the local radio station W.R.O.D and stations in Fitzgerald, Ga. She showed her Pinto Trick Horse "Texas" on stage at local theaters and the YMCA. She worked with Southern Bell Daytona Beach and Carolina Bell in Newbern, N.C. She retired from Halifax Hospital Medical Center 1991 with 23 years in Communications. Predeceased by her parents and one sister Mary Francis Scott, Fitzgerald, Ga., two half-sisters Crystal Carrol and Ruby Greeno. She is survived by brother Thaddeus McCollum of Daytona Beach and her beloved son William A. Robinson Jr. Tehachapi, Ca and daughter Deborah Suzanne Robinson, Port Orange, from marriage to William a. Robinson. One adored son-in-law Michael T. Wilson and loving daughter Terri Lee Cook Wilson from marriage to the late Robert E. (Dick) Cook. One very faithful loved friend Bessie Jo Miles of Lexington, N.C. and two neighbors and friends at Cross Creek, Deland, Bob and Mary Reynolds.
