Jadwiga (Jay) Church, 85, passed away peacefully September 23, 2013 at Indigo Manor in Daytona Beach,
FL. She was born January 27, 1928, in Tczew, Poland, the daughter of Stanl-islaw Dutkowiak & Jadwiga Krolak. Her family moved to Vivegnis, Belgium when she was still an infant, and she lived in Belgium throughout World War II, where she assisted her father in the resistance during the German occupation. She met her first husband, Romeo Laflotte, while he was serving overseas with the U.S. Army. She came to the United States & was married in 1947. Romeo passed away in 1958 and she subsequently remarried to Carl Church Jr. in 1959. Carl passed away in 1978 and Jadwiga relocated to Florida. Jadwiga had four children by her first marriage and two from her second. Two of them are now deceased. A daughter, Diane, died at the age of 9 months in 1951. Her first-born, Rita DeFransesco, died tragically in a house fire in 1985 at the age of 37. Survivors include her daughter, Doris Manning, and her husband, Michael, of Hooksett, NH; her son, Paul Church, and his wife, Ellin, of Rock Hill, SC, and their three children, Jesse, Crystal & Shawn; her daughter, Cindy Church, of Palm Coast FL, and her two children, Matthew & Jeremy; and her son, Carl Church III, of Ormond Beach FL. Jadwiga is also survived by her sister, Astrid Dormal, and her daughter, Chantal, both of Belgium, and by Rita's son, Scott DeFransesco, of Derry, NH. Jadwiga held numerous jobs, and was an avid amateur painter who also loved knitting & big band music. She was a strong, independent, spirited & fun-loving soul who will be dearly missed by her family & many friends.
