Mary Ellen Cloaninger (Kirby), 87, of Windermere, FL passed away peacefully on October 17, 2013. She was born on October 18th 1925 in Spartanburg, SC. Mary was the daughter of Louise (Knighten) and Ullyses Kirby and was the eldest of four. She married Wade Samuel Cloaninger Jr., the love of her life on February 5th, 1945. They were both graduates of Lower Richland High School in (Hopkins) Columbia SC. They were married for 63 years. Her beloved Wade passed away on February 25th, 2008. She is survived by her sister, Patricia Eaves of Cooksville, TN; and her two sons, Wade Samuel Cloaninger III (Sam) and Chris Marshall Cloaninger; their wives Deborah D. and Deborah C. (not a type-o); and four grandchildren, Christine Renee, Jason Samuel, Carrie Renee and Christi Leigh; great grandchildren, Devin, Paige, Trevor, Jake, Adeline and one bun in the oven... Mary was a retired Bell South employee of 20 yrs. Her favorite hobby was gardening, caring for her lovely roses was at the top of her list. The family would like to give special thanks to Vitas Hospice Services for giving her the special care she needed in her final days. Mom relished her role of Mother and Grandmother. She was a gentle loving southern lady in every sense to the very end. Mary touched the lives of many on her journey through life and her life and spirit live on in our memories. Mom we want to thank you for being a constant reminder of what true grace looks like. We will miss the sound of your laughter and your beautiful smile. We love you. A memorial service will be held at Grace Episcopal Chapel at 4110 Ridgewood Avenue. Nov. 9th at 4PM in Port Orange, FL. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations in Mary's memory be made to the or Vitas Hospice.
