Helmut Boenisch, born in Koblenz, Germany on November 13, 1920 to Peter & Margaret (Abendroth) Boenisch. His family immigrated to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania when he was two years old. He grew up in that beautiful city where he participated in many sports, especially loving basketball. Being a very talented and creative young man, he attended art school there. He served in the U.S. Army during the war and then went off to Chicago seeking fortune and fame in the advertising world as an Art Director and eventually having his own studio. After many years in the Chicago area, he retired to Boca Raton, Florida to be closer to his mother who was living nearby. During all his adult life, he was involved in improving and remodeling all the homes in which he lived. After his mother died, he decided he had enough of South Florida and moved to Palm Coast in 1997 in order to improve yet another house. As it turned out, this last home was his favorite. He is survived by his living wife of 12 years, Judith and his children; Karen (John) Forchette of Kenosha, Wisconsin; Kurt (Mary) of Chesapeake, Virginia; Kim of Savannah, Georgia and Dale Boenisch of Stratham, New Hampshire. He also leaves behind four grandchildren: Peter Jason, Kathleen, Kelly, and Jenna who will miss him greatly, and a younger sister, Margaret Meacham of Barefoot Bay, Florida and several nieces and nephews. Helmut died on January 27, peacefully in his sleep at the age of 93 fully lived years. Our Lord and Savior is probably hearing about all the improvements Helmut would like to make upstairs. There is a Memorial Service planned for February 15 at noon at Christ Lutheran Church, 2323 N. State Street, Unit 112 in Bunnell, FL 32110. The family requests memorial donations be made to the church instead of flowers. Lohman Funeral Home in Palm Coast is in charge of cremation arrangements.
