George E. Murdock, Sr., age 96, was born in Danbury, CT on March 10, 1917, the son of Allan Murdock, Sr. and Christine (Bennett) Murdock. Mr. Murdock attended public schools in Danbury, CT, a boarding school and Gilbert High in Winsted, CT. In World War II George Sr. was in the Army's 959th Ordinance Company in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of New Guinea and the Philippines where he achieved the rank of Sergeant TEC4. After World War II, Mr. Murdock worked at Paul Martin Hat Company in Danbury, CT as a machine operator and at Electro Mechanical Research in Ridgefield, CT as a local pickup and delivery driver. He worked as a Drill Press Operator at Bard Parker in Danbury, CT. At Kanthol of Bethel, CT George Sr. worked as a stock clerk where he retired in 1982. Predeceased by his first wife of 35 Years, Genevieve Mary (Oldakowski) Murdock, his second wife of 29 years, Ruby (Keane) (Oldakowski) Murdock; his brother, Allan Murdock, Jr. and Allan's wife Ann (Hudson) Murdock; step son-in-law, Joseph S. Hennessey Jr. He is survived by his son, George E. Murdock, Jr. and his wife Cathie of Bethlehem, CT; nephew, Richard Murdock of Holly Hill, FL; niece, Ann Shirley (Murdock) Pitcher of New York; stepson, Joseph Oldakowski and his wife, Theresa, of Longwood, FL; two step daughters, Kathy Yanosky and her husband, Robert, of Roxbury, CT and Laurie Hennessey of Beacon Falls, CT; five step grandchildren, Randall Hennessey and his wife, Sherri, of Palm Coast, FL, Joseph and Justin Hennessey of Beacon Falls, CT, Garrick Yanosky of Roxbury, CT, and Phaedra Yanosky of Ulmer, SC; and three step great grandchildren, Hannah, Hailey and Randall Hennessey Jr. of Palm Coast, FL. A service will be held at the Dale Woodward Funeral Home, 167 Ridgewood Avenue on Monday, March 10, 2014 at 4:00 PM.
