Gordon S. Jones, 82, of Daytona Beach passed away on March 1, 2014. Gordon was born on August 6, 1931 in Butler, Pennsylvania to the late Edward and Martha (Sykes) Jones and lived in Aliquippa, Pa. until moving to Daytona Beach in 1993. He attended the University of Pittsburgh graduating in 1954. Following college Gordon enlisted in the United States Army and served proudly from 1954-1956. Upon his return home he went to work in the banking industry and retired as a Bank Officer with Mellon Bank. Gordon devoted his life to church and family and was a member of Port Orange Presbyterian Church. He was also an avid golfer, member of the Pelican Bay Country Club, a member of the Woodlawn Masonic Lodge, Aliquippa, Pa., Syria Shrine of Pittsburgh, Pa. and the Greater Daytona Shrine Club. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 51 years, Marjean M. Jones; sister, Marian (Gary) Duda, of Delran, New Jersey; 16 nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Richard (Mae) Miner, and many loving friends. He was preceded in death by brothers, Edward J. Jones and J. Roy Jones. A memorial service for Mr. Jones will be held at 11 am on March 22, at the Port Orange Presbyterian Church, 4662 Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Port Orange Presbyterian Church, 4662 S Clyde Morris Blvd, Port Orange, FL 32129; or to Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia Flagler, at 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, Florida 32129.
