Frederick W. Thomas, age 88, of New Smyrna Beach, died Friday, March 28, 2014 at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach. Born in Hubbard, Ohio, to Howard and Effie Thomas; Mr. Thomas resided in Hubbard and was a winter resident of New Smyrna Beach for 20 years. Frederick served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 71st division. He was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hubbard, and loved woodworking, woodcarving and spending time on the computer. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Jacquelyn; a daughter, Ann Thomas and her husband Edward Kadonick of Denver, CO; two grandchildren, Jacquelyn Kadonick of Las Vegas, NV and Nicholas Kadonick of Denver, CO. Frederick was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald and Russell Thomas. Funeral services will be held in Hubbard at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia / Flagler, 3800 Wood-briar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
