Betty Jo Waters Ravain, 85, of Bunnell passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Florida Hospital-Flagler. She was born in Asheville, North Carolina on April 11, 1928, the last of six children born to Charles R. Waters and Gladys L. (Wyatt). During World War II, she worked as a "Rosie the Riveter" building American warplanes. After the war, she moved to Jacksonville, Florida where she married and raised her family. She later worked in the Communications Department of the Duval Medical Center / University Hospital of Jacksonville and rose to the position of Department Manager during her 23-year tenure. Upon her retirement, she resided in Flagler Beach and then Crescent City. She attended the First Baptist Church of Crescent City where she came to a saving faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Alvin C. Ravain in 1959 and a great-grandson Christopher A. Ravain in 1996. Survivors include her son, Mike and his wife Joy Ravain of Flagler Beach; grandsons Michael C. Ravain and his wife Cayce of Titusville, and Adam P. Ravain of Tallahassee; great-grand-children Erin Scott, Victoria Ravain and Nicolas Ravain of Titusville; and her niece and dearest friend Shayne T. Williams of Crescent City. Donations in her memory may be made to Florida Hospital Hospice Care Volusia / Flagler Counties. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014, 2:00PM in the chapel of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home. Friends may gather at 1:00PM until time of the service.
