Richard C. Leffler, age 71, of Edgewater, died Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Bert Fish Medical Center, New Smyrna Beach. Born in Niskayuna, New York, Mr. Leffler, a highly decorated Master Chief Yeoman in the United States Navy, moved to this area in 1988 from San Diego, California. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was the Athletic Director for the City of New Smyrna Beach, a member of the Good Sam Club and Daytona Drifters, enjoyed camping, bowling, and golf, and was a true Gator and Charger fan. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Elaine; son, Mark (Vanessa) Leffler of Key Largo; daughter, Cheryl (Jeffrey) Bohr of Edgewater; seven grandchildren, Kristina, Kimberly, Katelyn, Kathryn, A.J., Grace, and Bryan; two great-grandchildren, Kayden and Nickolas; two brothers, Brian (Marie) Leffler and Dale (Debbie) Leffler; one sister, Debbie (Rick) Qrick; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Barbara and Edward Griswold of Edgewater; and sister-in-law, Dawn Leffler of DeLand. Mr. Leffler was preceded in death by his father, Edward; mother, Sarah Coates Leffler; and brother, Frank Leffler. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Settle Wilder's New Smyrna Beach Chapel. Entombment will follow at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, Edgewater.
