Mary Ann Reichel, age 74, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2014 after an illness. She was born on April 20, 1939 in Samsula, Florida and lived her entire life there. Samsula was a special place for her. She graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School in 1956. She married John Reichel, Jr. on September 27 1957. She had three daughters, Rhonda, Sharon and Laura. After raising her three daughters, Mary Ann worked for twelve years at Carter Egg Ranch in Samsula and twenty years as the office manager at Arbors of Ivy in DeLand. She was the secretary of SNPJ Lodge 603 for 35 years and enjoyed preparing hundreds of dinners for the lodge. She was a life member of the Elks Ladies of BPOE #1557. Mary Ann was a ten year kidney transplant patient, which she lovingly received from her niece, Susan Still. Mary Ann enjoyed baking many items including Slovenian specialties, flowers of all kinds but especially roses, reading, traveling in the United States and collecting chicken figurines and salt and pepper shakers. She was a NASCAR fan and cheered for Jeff Gordon each race. Mary Ann is survived by her husband of 57 years, John Reichel, Jr., three daughters, Rhonda (John) Tesauro, Samsula, Florida, Sharon Wolf, Corvallis, Oregon, and Laura (Randy Ross), Samsula, Florida. She is also survived by her two sisters, Jeannette Humphrey and Pauline Lockwood; two brothers, Albert "Shorty" Tomazin and Bill Tomazin; and one brother-in-law, Robert (Sue) Reichel, all of Samsula, Florida, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Tomazin Jr. and Georgia Tomazin Nyburg; two brothers, Joseph (Butch) Tomazin III and Phillip Tomazin; and one sister, Vicki O'Rourke. Her funeral will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 18 at the Settle-Wilder New Smyrna Beach Chapel, with Mr. Michael Tomazin officiating. Entombment will follow in Edgewater-New Smyrna Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
