William S. Blackburn, age 74, of Edgewater, died Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Bert Fish Medical Center in New Smyrna Beach. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Mr. Blackburn, a director of worldwide purchasing for Rockwell International, moved to this area in 1998 from Royal Oak, Michigan. He served in the United States Army and was a member of the Hacienda Veterans group, enjoyed bird hunting, boating, and RV-ing. He was a woodworking craftsman, but his true passion was fishing. Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Helen; two sons, Eric (Yvonne) Blackburn of Michigan and William T. Blackburn of Wisconsin; one daughter, Cynthia (Ed) Millard of Pennsylvania; one stepson, Richard (Robin) Knisely of Pennsylvania; one stepdaughter, Debra (Thomas) Zipfel of Pennsylvania; one sister, Karen Blackburn of Pennsylvania; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his beloved beagle, Martie. Mr. Blackburn was preceded in death by a stepson, Kenneth Knisely and a sister, Virginia Dengler. The family will hold a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 21 at Hacienda del Rio Club Rio, with Deacon Richard Felone officiating.
