Robert Benjamin Gee, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away peacefully at home in New Smyrna Beach April 6, 2014, one month shy of his 87th birthday. Bob was born on May 6, 1927 in Newburgh, New York. The son of Watson T. Gee and Mina Steele, he attended and graduated from Newburgh Free Academy. Upon graduation he entered the US Navy and served in WWII on the USS Taconic. At the conclusion of the war, Bob attended Albany Business College and graduated in 1949/50 as the president of his class. On August 11, 1951 he married Roma Perreault. She predeceased him in 1976. They had three children: Robert (Frances) Thompson-Gee, Michael (Cindy-Lee) Gee, Debra (John) Weeks. On May 12, 1978 Bob married Patricia Ansari and warmly welcomed to the family her three children: Deborah (Bedford) Davie, Nick (Vicki) Ansari, and Cynthia Ansari. Bob is the beloved grandfather of 10 grandchildren: Alicia (Thompson-Gee) and Paul Seling and Justin Thompson-Gee; Ryan Gee and Mark Gee; Brittany (Weeks) and Matthew Ellsworth, and Robert Weeks; Preston Davie and Patricia Davie; Ashley Ansari and Nicky Ansari; and one great grandchild Gabriel Seling. He is survived by his sister, Valerie Buckley of Newburgh, NY as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the co-owner of the Spoor Lasher Company in Poughkeepsie, NY. He was a former member of Poughkeepsie United Methodist Church (formerly Community United Methodist Church). As a Trustee he was instrumental in overseeing the design and building of the church at its current location. Upon his retirement to New Smyrna Beach, Florida, he became a member of Coronado United Methodist Church. He was also a former governor and member of The Smyrna Yacht Club, and member of the Sugar Mill Country Club in Florida. In Poughkeepsie he was a former President, board member and member of the Dutchess Golf and Country Club, and member of the Amirita Club. He served with the American Cancer Society, Boy Scouts of America and the YMCA. Bob was an avid golfer, enjoyed outings with friends, and always had time for his family and especially his grandchildren. Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 26 at Coronado United Methodist Church, with the Reverend Robert C. Brown and the Reverend Anil Singh, officiating.
